VES’s upcoming ‘VFX Pros: Home Edition’ episode to feature VFX historian Gene Kozicki.

We often discuss about VFX techniques and software and the future of the industry. We rarely discuss the central developments that drove the revolutionary changes to the current VFX scenario as we know it.

VES’s society’s VFX Pros: Home Edition is all set to feature noted VFX historian Gene Kozicki, giving a look inside his VFX memorabilia collection.

Kozicki will also be presenting highlights from his exciting VFX collection, rich with history and stories about how the items were made, used, lost – and then found.

He has long been fascinated by the process of how movies were made. Gene started collecting movie memorabilia even before he had graduated from USC Film School when he kept some of the models he built for STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION as an intern. The collection has grown as he developed relationships with artists and technicians, and also fished items out of the trash that most people (and studios) would generally consider junk.

Tune in for a fun episode of VFX Pros: Home Edition – At Home With a VFX Super Collector – a look inside the VFX memorabilia collection of digital production manager & noted VFX historian Gene Kozicki on 14 August 2020 at 11AM (PDT)

A recipient of the VES Founders Award, Chair of the VES Archives Committee and VFX Historian, Kozicki also regularly consults with the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences and the American Cinematheque on retrospectives and conservation.

This is a must watch for VFX enthusiasts who harbour a fascination for the relics and trinkets of the VFX history.
