In conversation with AnimationXpress.com, Hardik Gajjar- VFX Supervisor and Founder, Vertex Volt shares the different VFX and technical initiatives taken up for ‘Devon ke Dev Mahadev’.

How does your team feel after winning the ITA awards?

It feels great after receiving ITA Award for Best VFX 2013 for Devon ke Dev Mahadev. It’s indeed a moment of pride that our hard work is recognised and appreciated by viewers.

Describe the ‘look and feel’ of the VFX Shots in Devon ke Dev Mahadev?

As our VFX Artists use Upgraded Pipeline software, the look and feel of ‘Devon ke Dev’ is infact a visual treat for the viewers. Each CG Shot has an element of realism, which helps the viewers of   Devon ka Dev Mahadev to relate and idolize with the characters of this Hindi Daily Soap.

Could you highlight the different Colour schemes used to depict the visual moods of ‘Devon ke Dev Mahadev’?

For every VFX shot that has been delivered by our team, we make sure to initiate different colour schemes to bring out the interesting visuals in the form of interesting multiple location settings, mood and tone of any respective shot. As the theme of Veerbhadra and Mahakali fight sequences was agony, war, hatred & revenge, we chose warm colour scheme comprising of lots of lava explosions and destruction happening all around. And on the other hand, for Kailash or Mansarovar scenes, we preferred using soft and pleasant colour schemes.

Till date, what was the major challenging VFX shot taken up by Vertex Volt for this soap?

The VFX shots that were initiated in the Jalandhar Promo Scene in June was a major VFX project. We moved the camera 360° to create a fight sequence between Jalandar and Mahadev and made these two individuals fly in midair. The most challenging aspect of this shot was using a duplicate actor for jalandhar and working on face replacement through VFX alone.

Any one specific Vfx SHOT which increased the TRP of this daily soap?

Yes, Ofcourse, the recent VFX Shots where the character of Mahakali was converted in an innovative new avatar of ‘Goddess Parvati’. This was a great boon for its TRP, as it helped the viewers to see an interesting twist in this mythological storyline.

According to you, how does VFX bring a different outlook to this daily soap?
As the VFX of Devon Ke Dev Mahadev  requires a lot of CG process like Set extensions, Chroma shots, effects, Matte paintings, 3D character models, Animation, crowd multiplication to bring a match to a believing factor in every scene, it adds a quality effect to this daily soap.

Which VFX shot will be initiated in the upcoming episodes of that Devon ke Dev Mahadev?

Yes, Our team is working on giving out a surprise theme for the upcoming scene in which Mahadev allows the Asurs to worship shivling and permits them to enter the swarg lok through VFX.
