Kids broadcaster Nickelodeon and fast food major Burger King have announced plans to extend their existing US promotional partnership for The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie to more than 30 countries around the world.
The countries include Mexico, Denmark, Germany, UK, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The film feature the voices of Scarlett Johansson, Oscar nominee Alec Baldwin and Jeffrey Tambor.
The two companies also announced an exclusive international promotion for Lemony Snicket™s A Series of Unfortunate Events starring Oscar nominees Jim Carrey, Jude Law as the voice of Lemony Snicket and Oscar winner Meryl Streep to more than 30 countries outside the US.
Tied to regional theatrical releases, the deals cover in-store premium promotions and on-air media commitments. The key impetus behind pursuing both deals is the success of these two properties. Nickelodeon™s SpongeBob SquarePants television series has been sold into more than 135 markets around the world and has grossed 2.5 billion in retail since launching in 1999.
Meanwhile, Lemony Snicket™s A Series of Unfortunate Events has engaged more than 18 million readers worldwide since the release of the first book in 1999. Each of the ten books in the series has reached the New York Times Best Sellers list.
Two weeks prior to the films™ regional premieres customers will receive a movie themed premium with each purchase of a Burger King Kid’s Meal. Participating Burger King restaurants will include in-store movie displays, posters, banners, tray liners, and competition and sweepstake cards.
The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie is scheduled to premiere on 19 November in the US and early next year everywhere else.
