Rahul Sood, an ex- general manager at Microsoft Ventures, an incubator for start-up companies with base across Bangalore, Beijing, Berlin, London, Paris, Redmond and Tel-Aviv has resigned from the company to start his own firm called Unikrn.
Sood found VooDooPC, a customised gaming PC based in Canada which was purchased by HP in 2006, where Sood worked as a CTO of global gaming and then joined Microsoft to head Bing Fund which went on to become Microsoft Ventures.
“I basically created my dream job and now I’m leaving it – this is the kind of crazy shit entrepreneurs do (or at least I keep telling myself that!). My gaming past continues to drive unrest inside me, starting with VooDoo, and then advising various companies including Razer and Vrvana, and now… I’m on a mission to create something great, therefore I’ll be leaving Microsoft to create Unikrn (details forthcoming)”, Sood said on his Linkedin page.
Unikrn seems to be a gaming venture considering the fact Sood was also part of Microsoft’s Xbox and founder of one of the best gaming PC’s and has a large following in the gaming community.
