Vodafone zooms ahead with Vaibhav Studios once again

The creator behind the animation of the beloved Vodafone Zumis, Vaibhav Studios, is back with another extensive adventure of the tiny creatures. A 60 sec commercial ZUMI Theme Film based on the Vodafone App where numerous Zumis are working efficiently was released on YouTube recently.

With the skeleton of the script provided by Vodafone and Ogilvy & Mather (O&M), the flesh to the bones was added by the Director of Nirvana Films, Prakash Varma. The script was ideated to form a 1 min full fledged advertisement in order to match the standard of the Zumi commercials.

Nirvana Films, Producer, Sunitha Ram said, “The duo Prakash Varma and Vaibhav Kumaresh worked on the script and created their own Zumi world. Prakash visualised the script in terms of the story, and Vaibhav in the animation aspect.”

The central aim of the ad was to showcase what really goes on in the Vodafone App, hence you will find that all the Zumis are in a frantic pace. “Even if there are around 20 Zumis in one sequence, all of them are doing something. You won’t find a single Zumi just loitering around. That is how Vodafone works, efficiently!, ” explains Sunitha.

With the effort of 20 artists working for around 2 months, Vaibhav Studios delivered this project in entire CG format. “This is the first commercial which does not have any portion of Live action. There is no connection to the live ZooZoos as the Zumis are the new characters that have managed to attract the audiences,” explains Vaibhav.

The whole ad was created using the Maya software at Vaibhav Studios itself, with Vaibhav supervising the animatic of the ad in collaboration with Prakash. “We wanted to maintain the organic feel of the Zumis as they are very different from the live action ZooZoos. Therefore, we worked on the minute detailing of each Zumi, their movement and reaction,” highlights Vaibhav.

The commercial displays the various services provided by the Vodafone App like recharge options, management of internet applications, payment of bills, shopping services for data plans and also music and entertainment service. The app also displays information about your entire data plan and its usage.

The whole Vodafone campaign about Zumi has been quite smart and has enchanted the viewers in an effective way. And Vaibhav Studios has enhanced the smartness of this ad by telling the story in an effective manner. The Zumis seems to be working in a manufacturing unit to deliver products timely and profusely.

Vaibhav Studios have added creativity to the Zumis by tapping various styles like symbolising the apps as hot pizzas jumping out of the oven, videos and music being cross checked before marking them as perfect and bills being paid. Vaibhav Studios have been progressing in their creativity and effort. “The Vodafone Campaign is on, so we aim to portray more creativity with these tiny Zumis ahead,” concludes Vaibhav.
