Vimanika Comics turns to IndieGogo for crowdfunding

Karan Vir, founder of Vimanika Comics has decided to go the crowd funding way in order to raise $ 105,000 through the website IndieGogo. Karan is a conceptual writer of Vimanika and the first Indian comic publisher in the US.

“Even today, our main intention of raising these funds is to preserve the comic book genre not only in the South Asian region, but also in UK where we sell our comic books. In addition, we plan to further expand our geographic reach to other parts of Europe and subsequently for readers in North America as well,” said Karan Vir to AnimationXpress.com.

Signature character Karna for The Sixth Series will be showcased for the first time as a crossover with a vast array of established characters from around the world in The War of the Worlds series, published by Red Anvil Comics, US.

“Our main aim is to create stories in comics and graphic novel formats based on characters related to the Indian and Asian mythology. These characters will portray to our readers a large number of virtues that were considered common during that era, but are looked upon with amazement and fear in today’s world,” added Karan.

Each story will have a moral in it, thus helping readers to teach principles of honour and ethics. The stories and the characters created by Vimanika will be brought to life through animated films, live action films, games, merchandising, toys, theme parks and much more.

And the deal is if you contribute $25 you would get a first edition of the graphic novel plus a Vimanika badge. For investing $50 you will be given the same products along with a gilted certificate with a citation from Vimanika Comics company specifying your role as a contributor and a patron for the company’s cause of keeping this art alive.

“60 to70 per cent of the fund will be invested in India itself. If you contribute $500, at this level you would be considered patrons and would receive a comprehensive package of 2 comic books + the first edition graphic novel+ a Tshirt + a sweatshirt + a poster + a statue of a character of your choice + a Vimanika badge and a certificate and so on,” expounded Karan.

It’s been 3 days now and they have already managed to collect $50 and 45 days are still left.
