Ubisoft has been constantly in news this week throughout with the earnings call and the news from its stable doesn’t seem to stop anytime soon. Entering the VR space and announcing the next instalment of the company’s flagship franchise, Assassin’s Creed, the company now, has announced a release date for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege will be available worldwide on October 13 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Along with the announcement, Ubisoft also revealed that the game will be available in quite a few special editions.
Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, the game is a multiplayer 5v5 tactical shooter with one has to play either as a criminal or a cop. The gameplay has terrorists transforming their environments into modern strongholds while Rainbow Six teams lead the assault to breach their position. A six-minute gameplay had been leaked
Series had been stagnant since 2006 when Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 released but got an iOS game released back in 2011 called Rainbow Six: Shadow Vanguard, based on the 1998 original. Rainbow Six: Siege saw the light of day after the cancelled Rainbow Six: Patriots, which Ubisoft scrapped when it realised that it would release it too close to the beginning of the new console generation.
Ubisoft believes that it will have sales sky-rocketing with Rainbow Six: Siege as the game has the potential to become the best-selling shooter in the company’s history, even surpassing its open world adventure Far Cry 4.
“Over its lifetime, we believe Rainbow Six: Siege has the potential to become the highest-selling shooter in Ubisoft’s history,” stated Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot during a recent call with investors.
With The Division being delayed until 2016, this will be one exciting game to look forward to from Ubisoft this year.
