It’s been 20 years since the first launch of the survival horror game Resident Evil by Capcom. The game has grown by leaps and bounds and has become Capcom’s biggest franchise in terms of sales and marked the start of the “survival horror” genre, which was already influenced by earlier efforts such as Sweet Home (also by Capcom) and the Alone in the Dark series. And as Capcom is known to have a habit of re releasing classic Resident Evil games, it has recently announced that Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6 will be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year.
A new trailer has been launched by the company that showcases the three titles and its release dates. Earlier the publisher has already released new version of the origins stories Resident Evil and Resident Evil 0, and we also know that a remake of Resident Evil 2 is on the way. And now due to the success of Resident Evil HD remastered version, Capcom said that HD remasters and re-releases would become a key area of growth for the company.
Resident Evil 6 is the biggest Resident Evil game to date with not one but four campaigns (Leon S. Kennedy and Helena Harper; Chris Redfield and Piers Nivans; Jake Muller and Sherry Birkin; Ada Wong and Agent) that are all interwoven and can be played alone or coop in any order. The upcoming release will also include all the additional post-launch content from the console version (DLC and all the costumes originally only available through ResidentEvil.net).
Resident Evil 6 will release on 29 March, Resident Evil 5 will be coming this summer whereas Resident Evil 4 will launch in the fall. Each of the games will cost $20 / €20 / £16. 2017 will witness the launch of an animated movie Resident Evil CG 3 (working title) produced by Marza Animation Planet and the sixth live action movie, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, written and directed by Anderson.
