With Netflix expansion in 130 countries in 2016, people across the globe are eager to know what new will Netflix be offering. With its original content being a major hit, Netflix has been planning to produce more of original series and pre CES 2016, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings had said that the company plans to produce an anime show for the non-US markets. And with that announcement, Netflix recently announced that they are coming up with an anime series Perfect Homes that will be produced by anime studio Production I.G and will be directed by Kazuto Nakazawa, who oversaw the animated sequence for Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill: Vol. 1.
This won’t be the first anime series on Netflix, but what’s to be noted is the fact that it’s the first original program from the streaming service to air in 190 countries simultaneously. The series is set to be a sci-fi thriller dealing with genetic enhancements, conspiracies, and rival organisations manipulating the future of humanity.
The synopsis reads: The 12-episode series is set in the future where scientists have tried to create the ‘perfect human’ in hopes of keeping peace in the universe. After nearly achieving their goal through several children, the scientists send their ‘new humans’ for further training where they are kidnapped by an evil organization set on using their powers to implement their own concept of a new world order.
“We are incredibly excited to work with Production I.G, who have worked on hit series such as Attack on Titan and Psycho-Pass, in bringing one of the most daring new anime titles produced today to all Netflix members and anime fans around the world,” said Netflix vice president of international originals, Erik Barmack, “In an era where the Internet knows no bounds, we are proud to deliver high quality original anime to fans all over the world, at the exact same time, no matter where they live whether it be Japan, France, Mexico, the US, and beyond.”
The studio producing the anime series, Production I.G has some prodigies names in anime under its belt. They include Guilty Crown, Psycho-Pass, Eden of the East, and the Ghost in the Shell series. The dates for Perfect Bones are yet to be announced by Netflix and so far there’s no artwork attached, so it’s unclear if we’ll see it air before the end of 2016, keeping in mind the amount of time it takes to produce each anime episode. But with one of the best anime studio working on the project, anime fans wait for Perfect Bones might likely pay off well.
