‘Krypton’, Syfy’s take on a prequel to Superman likely to get the pilot order soon

We all are well versed with the son of Krypton superhero Superman, the fictional crime fighting super hero from the DC universe.  Although, much of him is well known, like his Herculean strength, laser-shooting eyes and a relentless pursuit to suppress crime, very less is known or has ever been talked about his mysterious home planet ‘Krypton’.

But, we might soon be able to experience some stories from Superman’s planet, which will be set two generations before the destruction of Krypton. It will feature Man of Steel’s grandfather, who fights for the “shamed and ostracised” House of El and brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest superhero ever known.

The much awaited that’s been in talks to air on Syfy is finally getting a closure and seems like Syfy is likely to secure a deal on a pilot order for David S. Goyer’s Superman origin series, ‘Krypton’.

The story was churned out by David S. Goyer and Ian Goldberg; the duo will also be a part of the project as executive producers. As the ambitious project nears its beginning, other big names have come onboard as well. Damian Kindler of Sleepy Hollow and Stargate SG1 fame has joined as executive producer and show runner, with Colm McCarthy of Peaky Blinder & Sherlock set to direct.

Goyer, who is famous for his screenplays behind Batman Begins, Man of Steel, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was quoted last year saying, “Should we make the show, there will definitely be some big moments. It won’t be wall-to-wall visual effects every single moment, spectacle, in the way that the film will be, but we’ll also be digging into the characters and the culture a lot more.”
