ITV Studios Global Entertainment’s (ITVS GE) classic Gerry Anderson brand portfolio is gathering momentum as the licensor recently unveiled the latest additions to its expanding licensing programme.
It has been 50 years since Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s iconic TV series Thunderbirds first aired and to celebrate this significant milestone, ITVS GE is working closely with its partners to expand the wider and extensive Gerry Anderson portfolio.
Featuring 1960s TV cult classics including Captain Scarlet, Stingray, Joe 90 and Space 1999, the new lines commemorate his life-long commitment to creating diverse, innovative and futuristic content in his inimitable style. Hailed the master of ‘Supermarionation’, the new Gerry Anderson product lines, aimed at adult fans and collectors, will span key categories including collectibles, figurines, adult apparel and gifting.
ITVS GE, SVP, head of global merchandising, Trudi Hayward remarked, “As we approach the 50th anniversary of Thunderbirds, it’s important for us to explore the entirety of Gerry Anderson’s extraordinary portfolio and celebrate his incredible skill, determination and diversity through a variety of unique product ranges.”
Targeting the collectors market across the UK and Ireland, Robert Harrop will unveil a range of collectibles based on the Gerry Anderson portfolio, including: Captain Scarlet, Fireball XL5, Joe 90, Space: 1999, Stingray, Supercar and UFO. The lines will feature high quality bronze figurines, character figures, resin figures, vehicles and pewter figures. Also inspired by the complete Gerry Anderson portfolio is Plastichead that will launch a collection of adult apparel, accessories, mugs and mug sets across the UK and Ireland, whilst leading greetings cards publisher, Hype Associates is also on board for a range of high end greetings cards, gift wrap and bags.
Launching across the anniversary years, starting with Stingray in 2014, Anderson Entertainment is set to showcase a quirky range of limited edition gifts including apparel, replica models, badges, limited edition paintings and posters based on both Classic Thunderbirds and Gerry Anderson properties. Tree Frog will also roll out its line of collectible cards inspired by Classic Thunderbirds and the Gerry Anderson properties Captain Scarlet, Space: 1999, Supercar, Joe 90, Fireball XL5, UFO. The range will launch internationally across key territories including UK and Ireland, United States and Canada, Australia and New Zealand, Japan and European markets France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
