Is a ‘Big Hero 6’ sequel on the cards?

Walt Disney Animation has had an awesome run at the Oscars in two years running now with ‘Frozen’ casting its spell in 2013 and ‘Big Hero 6’ saving the world in 2014. The feature directed by Chris Williams and Don Hall was loosely based on the Marvel Comics’ superhero team of the same name.

The film which released alongside Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi epic ‘Interstellar’ went on to steal hearts and brought in massive box-office returns for the studios. Even before ‘Big Hero 6′ was released, there had been talks about a sequel. Now, there seems to be the first hints dropped on Walt Disney Animation Studios’ third highest grossing film to date.

Genesis Rodriguez, who voiced the character Honey Lemon had revealed in an interview that something may indeed be happening. She was asked about the sequel whilst promoting her upcoming film ‘Run All Night’ opposite Liam Neeson and said that “there’s rumblings of something else happening”. She also went on to add that after the first film’s success, “I doubt that they wouldn’t want to do another one”.

She finally said, “Just like comic books, you could make it a complete different story and the superheroes reunited to attack someone else. So it’s a perfect little setup they got for a sequel if they wanted to.”

There has been no news on this front from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Marvel or others from the film cast, but this piece of information will certainly bring a smile to the fans of Baymax.
