IndiaJoy day four IGDC Awards 2018

The India Game Developers Conference (IGDC) formerly known as the NASSCOM Game Developers Conference (NGDC) is India’s premier game developers’ conference. Now in its 10th year, the conference is considered as the most significant of such events held in South Asia. To boost the enthusiasm of indie game developers, IDGC initiated the award ceremony.

This year IGDC has organised awards ceremony in collaboration with IndiaJoy. Gamers from around India have participated in the ceremony.

“The awards are the centrepiece of efforts made to recognize and promote talented Indian developers. Since the inception of the conference, the size of the Indian games industry has grown manifold. As a result, we are expanding the awards categories to include the larger ecosystem and look forward to adding additional categories over future editions of the IGDC,” according to the official blog post.

Here are the awards categories :

Student game of the year

Backstage Pass Institute bagged both the winner and runner-up positions for ‘Student Game of the Year’ category. Roboland acquired the first position whereas Moirae claimed the runners-up position. Whereas the other nominees  for the ‘Student Game of the Year’  were Ball of Death  by Bharati Vidyapeeth Amplify DITM, Beam Stream  by Monkeys in Disguise and Cyber Terra  by Dots and Dashes Interactive


Indie game of the year

The Bonfire – Forsaken Lands by Xigma Games bagged ‘Indie Game of the Year’ awards where BOMBARIKA by Street Lamp Games claimed the runners-up position. Whereas the other nominees for the Indie game of the year were Legend of Maratha Warriors by Yogesh Pugaonkar, The Last Train by Smash Game Studios.

Studio game of the year

Star Trek Trexels II by YesGnome bagged the ‘Studio Game of the Year’ award whereas WWE Mayhem by Reliance Games was the runner-up. The other nominees were Little Singham by Zapak Mobile Games Pvt. Ltd., Puzzles and Toons by June Gaming Pvt. Ltd. and Real Cricket 18 by Nautilus Mobile Pvt. Ltd.

In the shadows by Playbae won the upcoming game of the year which is the new category added in the game segment. All the winners were presented $4000 facebook credit and all the runners-up were presented $1000 Facebook credit as the token of appreciation. Overall the vibe of the  IDGC awards was amazing and worth witnessing.
