French animation ‘Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir’ wins top honor at Teen Choice Awards 2018

The twentieth edition of Teen Choice Awards concluded at the sprawling The Forum arena in California, but also marked a red letter day for independent animation studio ZAG as it bagged the Choice Animated TV show award for its popular animation program Miraculous – Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, fighting off challenges from the likes of The Simpsons, Family Guy, Rick and Morty et al.

ZAG founder and CEO Jeremy Zag couldn’t hide his ecstasy in the studio’s watershed moment as he beamed, “We are so thrilled that Miraculous has been chosen by fan vote as Choice Animated TV Show. I want to give a special thank you to my magical teams and incredible partners in Europe, USA, LatAm and Asia. We couldn’t have made it without their support. Most importantly, special big love to the best fan base in the world”.

Created by ZAG in collaboration with French outfit Method Animation, the series follows an intriguing tale of two quirky teenagers Marinette and Adrien, who although lead a simple schoolgoer’s life, transform into vigilantes Ladybug and Cat Noir whenever evil shadows loom upon their City of Lights, Paris. The show currently airs in over 120 countries having run over 130 episodes of 22-minute each thus far.

The latest piece of silverware follows the brand’s success at Spain’s Fifteenth Licencias de Actualidad awards where it was adjudged the best license of the year as well as best entertainment property. It also capped the best kid’s brand at Italian and Brazilian licensing awards too.
