Social media hungry people are always starving to share that perfect photo of last night or put a status about how lovely the morning is. But for about 40 minutes today, they were left scratching their heads as Facebook and Instagram were temporarily down. Users were unable to access the services on both the web and via their mobile apps.
Many users facing the issue world over took to Twitter to rant about it. Multiple refreshes leads you to the error message – “The website is not available.” Facebook has not issued a statement till the time of filing of this story.
Instagram was acquired by Facebook in 2012, which is headquartered in Menlo Park, Carlifornia, held an initial public offering that led to a peak market capitalisation of $104 billion.
Chat app AIM and dating app Tinder were also hit by the outage.
