Media Arts & Science College (MASC) celebrated its second anniversary recently at Chennai with a grand ceremony presided by Director M Jeyam Raja of Velayutham fame. The “Best PR” and “Media Man” was awarded to Nikil Murugan who is the PRO in Chennai by the college. They also announced the launch of new filmmaking and TV broadcasting courses which will start from this year. Students of PG Animation program screened their 3-minute Animation short film “Faith & Myth” which was based on a true incident of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam from his schooling period and was applauded by the audience.
“We are grooming to be a Media University and we want a dedicated division to accredit Media studies like how renowned fashion institute NIFT operates in India”, said Valliappan Raju Director of Media Arts & Science College. “If not us who can be more appropriate to come up with award like BEST PR and MEDIA MAN, as a media college its our responsibility to honour media professional every year and this award is highly justified as it goes to Nikil Murugan”. Director Raja who was the Chief Guest said that he was amazed by the infrastructure and vision of Media Arts & Science College and declared that parents can be contended if they have selected this college for their ward.
“2011-2012 was a year of growth and what students could achieve in 25 years has been achieved in second year”, claimed Dean Babu Rammasami who was a Regional Officer with Central Board of Film Certification at Chennai. “Our college now offers Animation, Gaming and Mass Communication programs with the setup and infrastructure we boast about being an embarking Filmmaking institution with courses equivalent to Chennai Film Institute or Pune Film Institute”, said Valliappan Raju.
Students showcased cultural performances. The award ceremony included around 8 category of awards which were been awarded for the triumph of student’s performance in competitions like Digital photography, drawing, 3D modeling, 3D works, Facial painting, 3D Animation, Best Sportsmen, Best Talker, General proficiency etc. The auditorium was full of media professionals from various media fields. Ms. Anesthisia from Russian Embassy welcomed to have association with the college for any collaboration with their Universities. The college also announced its collaboration with UK and Malaysian Universities for their International Partnership.
“I am so honoured and proud to get this award from Media Arts & Science College, this college being a media college. I am looking forward that they keep awarding constantly the right professionals to motivate them. I thank Mr Valliappan Raju and the jury team to select me for this award of 2011 – 2012”, said Nikil Murugan who bagged the BEST PR and MEDIA MAN award.
