Warner Bros. to adapt ‘Adventure Time’ as a feature film

One of Cartoon Network’s (international) best shows Adventure Time is going to be adapted as an animated feature film by Warner Bros.

As reported by Deadline, the project that will be produced by Chris McKay and Roy Lee follows the adventure of a 12 year old boy Finn and his best friend dog Jake. The duo is in a quest to protect their land Ooo.

Cartoon Network Studios along with creator Pendleton Ward will be associated in the production with Ward having some involvement in writing and producing the feature film as well.

The series is based on a short that became a viral hit on the internet post which Cartoon Network picked up the show for a full length series. It first aired in April 2010. Heavily inspired by fantasy role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons, Adventure Time is a hand drawn animation.

Six seasons of the show have already been produced and the show has won several accolades. Comic books and a video game on Adventure Time were also simultaneously released.
