‘Townscaper’ is available to play on browser and no downloads required

Building game Townscaper is now available to play for free in your browser with no downloads required. Townscaper creator Oskar Stålberg and Bad North announced the browser-based demo via Twitter.

The browser version, like its Steam counterpart, contains the same procedurally generated towns. As per PC gamer developer Oskar Stålberg, one can use the Unity engine’s ability to port the game onto other platforms.

Build quaint island towns with curvy streets, small hamlets, soaring cathedrals, canal networks, or sky cities on stilts. Build the town your dreams, block by block. No goal. No real gameplay. Just plenty of building and plenty of beauty. That’s it.

Pick colours from the palette, plop down colored blocks of houses on the irregular grid, and watch Townscaper‘s underlying algorithm automatically turn those blocks into cute little houses, arches, stairways, bridges, and lush backyards, depending on their configuration.
