A month of VALORANT action which began with the open qualifiers back on 9May has reached a thrilling conclusion with the LAN Playoffs in Chennai. More than 300 teams registered for the Skyesports Champions Series (SCS) – a road to VCT 2022 event, but in the end, Global Esports stood victorious after taking down Enigma Gaming 3-2 in the finals. The six-day broadcast for the LAN playoffs in Chennai from 31May to 5June was the longest in India.
The Skyesports Champions Series broke viewership records for VALORANT esports in South Asia as it amassed a total viewership of more than 10 million. The Hindi stream for the SCS on 3June, which featured matches between Enigma Gaming and Orangutan along with the VAL Classico clash between long-time rivals Global Esports and Velocity Gaming reached 1 million views on YouTube – the first time a VALORANT live stream in South Asia has managed to do so.
The SCS was broadcasted on Rooter, YouTube, and Twitch. Keeping up with Skyesports’ vision of making esports more accessible to the masses, players could tune into the stream in 6 languages, which are Hindi, English, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil.
Skyesports also produced the official music video for the SCS, titled South Asia Arise, featuring SKRossi, Antidote, Deathmaker, and ScarGod. It was directed by Global Esports Studios’ Mohit Israney and currently has more than 690,000 views on YouTube.

Tamil Nadu MLA and DMK’s IT wing secretary Dr. T.R.B Rajaa attended the SCS Playoffs Finals on 5June. The MLA congratulated the players and Skyesports for pulling off the event and added that Tamil Nadu will soon be the go to destination for esports in India. “The event organization was on par with international standards and the tech that went behind the whole show was mind-boggling. They can rival any IPL event with their tech,” Dr. T.R.B Rajaa said.
Skyeports also organized a group draw show ahead of Phase 2, the Group Stage League, for the first time in South Asian VALORANT esports to provide more transparency to the fans and players. For the Phase 3 LAN in Chennai, Skyesports put up billboards across Chennai and also gave a traditional welcome to the teams with Tamil dances to accustom them with the culture of the region.
Adding to the flare of the SCS, the Skyesports Streamers Showdown was also organized in the LAN playoffs, featuring the best content creators in South Asia. Ultimately, Team Baap Beta Esports with creators like Rakazone, Fa2, MiLi, and Jimmy Gaming were crowned the champions of this event. A meet and greet was also held in the SCS venue with regional creators like MFYT, Tamil Gaming, Raj Gaming, 90s Gamer, and Thameem which saw hundreds of fans flocking to the event to catch-up with their favorite creators.
