Inaugurated by president of India Droupadi Murmu, CII’s gaming event, India Gaming Show 2023 which took place from 16 to 18 February concluded on a positive note with Grace Esports emerging as the champions of the first-ever all-female VALORANT LAN event in India, the Skyesports Grand Slam 2022.
Grace Esports were absolutely dominant throughout the two-day tournament. They won both matches of the group stage to advance to the Grand Finals. Here, they continued their streak with another strong performance to take down Balak Paneer 2-0 and walk away with the coveted trophy.
“We were confident [of winning] but we were avoiding overconfidence and we obviously have a lot of people who support us to thank. We also want to thank Kappa for having our back throughout the tournament,” said Grace Esports team captain Rose.
“I feel really great,” added Grace Esports’ Meow16k after the win. “First of all, this is the first all-female VALORANT LAN. Thanks to Skyesports for organising such a great event and bringing a chance for us to play on stage. And yes I am feeling fabulous, first LAN and it’s in our pocket.”
The Windows 11 Skyesports Grand Slam, presented by AMD, took place at the Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on 16 and 17 February as a part of the India Gaming Show (IGS). The event took place at the JetSynthesys Gaming Arena. JetSynthesys, the parent company of Skyesports, are the event sponsors of the IGS 2023.
Skyesports Grand Slam was a historical event as it marked the first time that an all-female VALORANT LAN was happening in India. Also it was proud moment for Skyesports and the community as along with the president Droupadi Murmu, Heavy Industries minister Mahendra Nath Pandey also visited JetSynthesys Gaming Arena in IGS.
In her inaugural address, Murmu said, “It is important for us to understand the potential of advanced technology and its prowess. If we go back in history, we can estimate its remnants of it since the industrial revolution age and witness the growth over the years. I am thankful to CII for developing this event as a leading technology and innovation forum for Indian development. I believe that the knowledge of science when combined with the pursuit of spirituality, it can do miracles. Spiritualism and science must work in tandem. We should strive to also use technology for a social change. Any technology that confines itself to a section of people would gradually wither away. On the other hand, the technologies that change the lives of ordinary people in a positive manner get traction.”
