On 5 October 2020, Electronic Arts (EA) was seen teasing an upcoming announcement which may very well be Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered.
EA has posted a series of Need for Speed-related images on their official Twitter account, which has led fans of the series to believe that an announcement is impending; maybe sooner than we think.
Big Joe has to be messing with me. Not sure how he found out. So much effort just to tease me, and I only wanted some pizza. pic.twitter.com/DW2lLYIAUE

Furthermore, a page on Need for Speed‘s official website has a countdown that will end on 5 October 2020, at 8am PT/11am ET/4pm BST alongside a message that states “5:10. How did he go so fast? Five ten. Call Big Joe’s Pizzeria on 0800-510-510-510. There’s got to be a way to fix this.”
Venture Beat first reported that Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered would be one of the seven previous announced EA games to be released for Nintendo Switch in 2020. Since then, it has appeared on Amazon UK and was rated by Korea’s Games Rating and Administration Committee.
EA announced in February that it had handed Need for Speed development duties back to Criterion Games as it planned to restructure Ghost Games, which developed the last four entries in the racing series.
And during June’s EA Play event, the publisher offered the first look at some of its in-development projects for next-gen consoles including Need for Speed, which it said will offer “a seamless immersion which gets you into the race in a matter of seconds”.
