Leading French animation Studio XILAM unveils Season 5 (78 x 7 minutes) of its hit animated slapstick series Oggy and the Cockroaches at MIP Junior – MIPCOM 2015, prolonging the series already amazingly long screen life to a total of 350 x 7 minutes episodes or 115 half-hours.
After almost 20 years, from one corner of the globe to the other, and four wild and wacky seasons and 270 episodes, the new season of Oggy and the Cockroaches – made in Ultra HD for the most spectacular of visual experiences – has currently entered pre-production in Xilam’s Paris based Studio.
After having tried to live a life of leisure as a happy cat in his comfy home (Season 1), travelled around the world (Season 2), worked at odd jobs (Season 3) and dived into romance (Season 4), now, in season 5, our fat blue cat and those pesky bugs are going to present a different facet of their enduring rivalry by featuring Oggy through the ages. In this new season, everlasting Oggy explores a whole bunch of historical eras such as the prehistoric world, Greek mythology, the Renaissance period, the roaring twenties and even the distant future, 3000 AD, etc. He also runs into legendary characters such as Caesar, Leonardo da Vinci, the Cyclops or Napoleon, thus helping kids learn more about history, and laughing while they do it! The battle against the roaches continues but this time they’re in period dress. It’s an unlikely collision between History and slapstick.
