Dilsukhnagar Arena wins ‘Best 3D Animated Film Award‘ for its student short film ‘Twisted‘

Uncommon, interesting and comical at the same time, ‘Twisted‘, a five-minute entertainer animated with benchmark quality by a student of ‘Dilsukhnagar Arena‘, won the Best 3D Animation Short Film Award in the Student Category of Asifa India, Awards of Excellence 2011. The winner was declared at the grand celebrations held at Mumbai recently.

Speaking to AnimationXpress.com Dilsukhnagar Arena CEO, Raja Sekhar Buggaveeti shared, “Last year at Asifa IAD -2010, our film ‘Feel the Punch‘ won the Special Jury Award and this year, we‘ve captured the Best 3D Animation Short Film Award. Also, two of our student short films have been nominated at the Bit Film Festival-12, at Hamburg, Germany and we have our fingers crossed as we get close to a very prestigious international award. Results will be announced in December 2011. The consistent performance of our students at various film festivals demonstrates our commitment to grooming world-class Animation talent. I am thrilled to bits and I congratulate the team of students and mentors for the excellent job.”

The award-winning film ‘Twisted‘ enjoyed a grand launch by three time national award winner and VFX wizard Srinivas Mohan during Dilsukhnagar Arena‘s 13th Anniversary Celebrations. Dilsukhnagar Arena had invited Srinivas Mohan, who is better known for his VFX wizardry in the mega-budget Rajnikanth starrer ‘Robo‘ to deliver an in-depth presentation on the behind-the-scenes of this iconic film for the benefit of students.

After the presentation, he launched the film ‘Twisted‘ and commended the students of Dilsukhnagar Arena for coming up with an engaging story and animating it to perfection.

Twisted was crafted by a group of 24 Animation students at Dilsukhnagar Arena. The advantages that these Animation students enjoyed were many. For starters, they learnt Animation at India‘s Largest Digital Media Academy Dilsukhnagar Arena. From state-of-the-art training infrastructure to profound mentoring by a battery of industry-experienced CG Artists and Master Sessions from such Hollywood veterans as Max Howard and Shelley Page, these students had all the resources to transform themselves into consummate and studio-ready CG talent.

ASIFA‘s International Animation Day (IAD) is an annual global celebration aimed at recognizing the people involved in the art and technology of animation through the Awards of Excellence. Since its start in 2002, IAD has been a film festival that has provided Indian animation artists, a platform to interact and build a community.
