Chennai based Animation and VFX studio Imageventure Pvt. Ltd. has bagged a contract worth US $2.5 Million from Canadian company Klaude & Micelli for producing the animation as well as storyboarding and voices for The Tank, a 3D Teleseries (22 x 24 episodes) targeted at young adults.
The concept and character designs for The Tank have been created by the film maker couple Jean- Christian and Claude Miceli Knaff, who run the design studio Klaude & Micelli which is famous for its endearingly different series of shorts for Nelvana called The Wild Wild Circus Company.
Speaking to Animation Xpress.com, Imageventure CEO Mathiseelan stated, “The contract is worth US$2.5 million. We gave a small 2 minute test which the producers liked immensely and they signed us on. We are now working on the pilot and the work on the series will begin in a couple of months time”
This series is totally different from other 3D animated series. The character designs are very different and colorful. We are given instructions not to follow any animation principles, but to create a nice new kind of animation style. The basic idea is to create something interesting and different from the current animation series, which is attractive to viewers and sellers. We hope this series will become one of the successful series in the industry”
“The challenging part of the series is not only 3d animation, but, doing voice for all the characters here, in India. The client preferred us to do voice over here for all the characters, all of whom sport British accents. Initially we thought, that it may not be possible here in South India. But finally we did the voice over here in Chennai with the help of Media Artist Pvt, ltd, which is part of Real Image studios, Chennai. The client is happy with the voices and we are planning to do the voices for all 24 episodes here”
Besides the contract that it has bagged recently, Imageventure has worked on more than 150 CG based commercials and has done substantial amount of VFX for southern soaps and TV shows including ones for Nimbus, G V Films and Eenadu TV.
