Ryan Kingslien, founder of ZBrushWorkshops & Visualarium, conducted a free seminar on human anatomy and digital sculpting at the NCUI Auditorium in New Delhi on 30th March. The seminar was initiated by Visualarium as part of its campaign to teach the world to sculpt and provide accessible digital sculpting training to everyone. The seminar was organised by India’s leading animation and visual effects institute, Frameboxx, under its ProCampus programme.
Ryan who is known world over for his mastery over ZBrush, an advanced digital tool to conceptualize and create various forms of characters, demonstrated the importance of understanding human and animal anatomy to a group of animators, computer graphic artists, and animation students.
“Understanding human anatomy is the single most important item that every artist has to learn to improve their artwork, their career, and their ability to quickly and accurately respond to clients,” Ryan said.
“Today, there is no other artistic skill that has such a dramatic effect on your ability to produce and make a living than mastering anatomy,” he added.
Naveen Gupta, CEO and Executive Director of Frameboxx informed that conceptualizing and creating animated characters is extensively in demand in films, advertising, computer gaming, interactive educational packages, to name a few, where artist’s skills in replicating every tiny muscle movement becomes an essential component of animated characters.
Ryan studied traditional art at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. In 2004, he became Chief Creative Officer at Pixologic where he developed the industry standard training system still in use today and consulted with industry leaders such as ILM, Sony Pictures, Imageworks, Bungie Studios, Ubisoft to develop their next generation modeling pipelines.
