Pixaalaya delivers 130 mins for DVD game

nullChennai based Pixaalaya Studios, which completed one year of operations this month has delivered a staggering 130 minutes of pre rendered animation for Clan Clash, a DVD game for a UK based client. The game is scheduled for an Easter 2005 release in US and Europe.

The Clan Clash assignment included pre-production, production and post-production work. It also included sound effects which were done in Chennai. The music score was done by the client.

A striking thing about the assignment was that the entire 130 minutes of animation work was directed and delivered in a tight timeframe of 6 months.

Commenting on the experience, Pixaalaya CEO Sukumar Subramanian told Animation ‘xpress, “Every thing about this project is special, be it pre-production for 130 minutes of animation, be it 130 minutes of animation work directed and delivered in 6 months time, be it our evolved in-house production tools for animation or the special lighting rigs and rendering”

“Our in house pre-render optimization tool has brought down render related errors by 95%” he added.

The company which began as a 2 member team in feb ’04 has since grown to a 60 strong force. Dispelling notions about the fascination for headcount that the industry has, the Pixaalaya CEO said that, “The size doesn’t matter in this industry, the core creative team is which that matters. We don’t have any production co ordinators here, we directly interact, we let everyone have their chance to speak and work on logic”
