The 2nd Annual Comic Con India promises to be more exciting than its predecessor and much more activities and sessions are lined up in this 3 day event. The convention will be held on 17th – 19th February at Dilli Haat. Each day will have a special session by an International guest. The convention that has more than 80 participants and 50 exhibitors will have close to 30 sessions with various artists, writers, publishers and related companies from India and across the world.
The line up of the convention boasts of various launches and sessions. To name a few, the first day will see a Special Session with Anil CS Rao & Cyber Wit Publishers. They will be launching 3 new titles, The Indian Time Traveller, Vizag Blue & Hyderabadi Biryani. Special Session with Vimanika Comics will be conducted by Karan Vir Arora (CEO, Vimanika Edutainment). Vimanika will be launching their apparel line as well as their new title, Moksha (Vol#5).
The attendees will also get to catch a special preview of Munkee Man 2 with the creator, Abhishek Sharma, director of Tere Bin Laden. There will be a Special Guest Session with Chris Oliveros, Founder, Drawn & Quarterly who will take us through the beginning and journey of D&Q, one of the largest and most prolific independent comic publishers in the world.
The second day will kick start with a special session with Artist Aakash Anand who will be launching India’s First Abstract Comic – “Untitled” Issue # 1. Then there is a fun quiz contest by Chariot Comics where the participants can win Android Tablets, travel vouchers & exclusive Chariot Comics titles.
Gary Groth, Publisher & Co-Founder, Fantagrahics Books & Editor-in-Chief of The Comics Journal will conduct a special session on the 2nd day. The man behind the Harvey awards will talk about the Evolution of comic book sub-culture in America & fantagraphics followed by a Q&A session with him.
The 3rd day of Comic Con will see the launch of ACK Animation’s “SUPPANDI The Animated Series” with a sneak-peak of the much anticipated trailer for their newest feature film, “Sons of Ram”. Also catch the launch of 2 new titles of the Chotta Bheem Series during the special interactive session for children with Green Gold Animation. Chotta Bheem himself will be present at the session!
The attendees on the 3rd day will get to attend Comic Con India special Guest of Honor session with the legendary Robert Crumb: The father of the underground comix movement, creator of ‘Fritz, the Cat’, ‘Mr. Natural’ & Weirdo Comics, artist & illustrator. Regarded as one of the greatest artists of the 20th century, Crumb is known for his critical, satirical & subversive view of the American life.
