Former Chapman Entertainment director of production and development Emily Whinnett has joined new London-based kids and family-focused production company Soho Square Productions as its director of programs.
Calling on her 13-plus years of experience in kids’ TV, Whinnett will oversee production and IP development on all shows, including kids’ CG animation and live-action, documentaries and drama. She will be reporting to studio co-founders Kim Goody and Alan Coates.
Whinnett has earned over her career awards and nominations from groups like BAFTA, Royal Television Awards, Annecy and British Animation Awards. For eight years at Chapman Entertainment, she has spearheaded hit preschool series Fifi and the Flowertots, Roary the Racing Car, Little Charley Bear and Raa Raa the Noisy Lion.
Whinnett has served as head of development at studio Sixteen South, where she used to develop IP’s including the new series Claude.
Founded in September, the division of Soho Square Studios has greenlit a currently untitled 52 x 11-minute preschool program as its first project. It was introduced at MIPCOM and has industry veteran Keith Chapman (Paw Patrol, Bob the Builder, Fifi and the Flowertots) on-board as co-creator.
