Bagdasarian Productions and PGS have joined hands for the licensing and merchandising rollout of the new Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks animated series.
The strategic partnership will see PGS taking care of the brand’s L&M strategy around the world, excluding North America. It will also deal with all aspects of the franchise’s development and consumer products rollout, working closely with series producers Bagdasarian Productions.
“The Global response to our new television series has been unbelievably exciting,” said Bagdasarian Productions CEO Ross Bagdasarian in a press statement. “Janice and I have been incredibly impressed with everything that PGS has accomplished with our latest iteration of the Chipmunks franchise and we felt very confident in extending our business relationship to include licensing and merchandising. We are looking forward to collaborating with them on some exciting and innovative programs around the world.”
The CGI show also marks the brand’s return to television after a two-decade hiatus. It was originally commissioned for M6 in France, though a deal with Nickelodeon will see two seasons aired on more than 70 Nick channels worldwide starting early next year. Bagdasarian Productions president Janice Karman had created the show with OuiDO! Productions co-producing it.
PGS president Guillaume Soutter added: “It’s a tremendous privilege to be representing a legacy brand like the Chipmunks. This is a property that has been popular with three generations of kids and families, generating billions in music, TV, video/DVD and box office sales. It’s a dream property for buyers, especially with the fresh, contemporary look that Janice has created for the show. We are very proud and excited to be working with Ross and Janice on the roll out of the new Chipmunks L&M program.”
