The Animation education scene is heating up across the country and that should be music to the ears of Indian studios that are growing at a rapid pace and need the talent base to grow as soon as possible.
Toonz Animation Academy, a division of Toonz Animation India is all set to launch its Mumbai academy tomorrow (July 5). The academy which is its second after Trivandrum will be self owned and run directly by Toonz.
Speaking to AnimationXpress.com, Rama Prasad, Executive Director at Toonz Animation Academy shared, “We are very encouraged by the response to the Trivandrum academy where we have had students from all over India. The Mumbai launch marks the commencement of our expansion plans and while we expand we are first going to ensure that the quality of education remains as good as we offer it in Trivandrum”
On being asked to elaborate on the expansion plans, Rama Prasad shared, “Close on the heels of this launch we are launching our Nagpur institute before the end of this month. And by the end of ‘07 we will also have launched a centre in Delhi as well as a second centre in Mumbai”
Spanning a duration of 12 months, the course will have 4 hours training every day (week days) and is divided into 3 segments, 2D Classical, 3D and specialisation. The fees are Rs 160,000.
“We have already got a lot of encouragement from studios who want artists trained by Toonz with a balance of strong classical as well as specialised 3D skills” he concluded.
Toonz Animation CEO Jayakumar shared an exclusive bit of information about new ventures planned at the company which include separate divisions for Gaming, VFX as well as live action production with International front ends and partnerships.
