The Sify Animax Grand Gaming Challenge came to a thrilling end on 28th February at Atria Mall, Mumbai, wrapping up several weeks of suspense in one smashing grand finale.
The gaming challenge started on 8th February ‘07 with 17 registrations which accumulated to 35,000 by the end of the last day.
Shared Supriya Bambawale, Marketing Manager of Animax with Animation Xpress.com, “The number of registrations we received went beyond our expectation. Our target participants were between 15 and 24 years of age but to our pleasant surprise, we had participants from other age groups as well. The kind of support we got from Sify is really appreciated. It not only helped us in making this challenge exciting, but also in reaching out to the gaming community.”
Conducted by Sify Gamedromes in association with Animax, AGGC-07 rolled out across 240 outlets and 66 cities with popular games like Counter Strike, FIFA, NFS UG2, Defense of The Ancients and Gunz Online.
ATE, the team that won the multiplayer games category walked away with a cheque of Rs.100,000 for the game NCS. SOD who received a cheque of Rs.30000 was the winner of the game, DOTA while Dark Messiah came out victorious in the online gaming category for Gunz Online winning 19″ TFT monitors. In addition to the prizes, each team was awarded the AGGC trophy.
Talking about the Single Player games category, Sandeep from the North zone won the trophy for FIFA while Sathya from the South took away the trophy for the ever famous Need For Speed. Apart from the trophies, they also got a graphic card worth Rs.30, 000 each.
The best game jockey category, saw a tie, with the AGGC trophy shared by Senthil from South zone and Vikas Bakshi from North zone who will now work as Regional Game Jockeys with Sify Gamedromes.
It doesn‘t end here, Sify-Animax also organized the Corporate Challenge on 24th February ‘07 where corporates from various sectors played against each other.
On a concluding note, Naveen H, National Manager, Sales, Sify Ltd, said, “We would like to take gaming to a new dimension, targeting not only the youth but also avid gamers from all spheres. The Corporate Challenge was conducted to give corporates a chance to unwind while playing engaging and exciting games.”
