As kids we have heard all kinds of stories and one of them was about Kuber and his Khazana (Wealth). Although he was an Asura (Devil), we always dreamt about him and his never-ending wealth. The story is still heard and told. It is just that the way of telling these stories have changed. There are high quality special and visual effects to make the story as real as possible.
On the lines of this myth, Big Time Telugu producers B Satyanarayana and Raju Khaware have produced the feature film Mayabazar. The VFX for this movie has been done by EFX in Chennai.
Speaking to AnimationXpress.com about Mayabazar, C.H. Srinivas, Delivery Head (VFX), Prasad EFX, shared, “The movie is a socio fantasy, with the basic theme being Myth, money and magic and, Kubera the Asura who, according to Hindu mythology is a very rich man. Kubera is played by S.P. Balasubramaniam (SPB), the legendary play back singer.”
“The major CG work for this movie involved modeling and animating the “Pushpak Vimana: and “Alakapuri Palace”. SPB was shot against blue matte and later composited with the 3d model of Pushpak Vimana. The work also involved lots of 3d tracking and complex compositing.” he added.
Close to 20 artists were involved on this project which released earlier this month and has received great reviews overall and specially for its visual effects.
“Another important highlight about this project was that we did a lot of home work like creating virtual 3D storyboards etc. In this way we pre-planned the execution of VFX shoot coordination” concluded Srinivas.
